The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB) assesses and awards financial compensation to survivors of violent crime.
You can apply for compensation from CICB if you have suffered physical, mental, emotional or psychological injuries as a result of a crime of violence, for example: assault, sexual assault, criminal harassment, child abuse, domestic violence. To apply for compensation the crime must have taken place in Ontario.
The CLCYR provides assistance with completing a CICB application. In addition, the CLCYR can provide advice to a client on the process of applying for CICB benefits, how to gather information for the application, and the preparation for the hearing.
