Benjamin Hognestad
Benjamin is a staff lawyer on the Housing Law Team. Originally from Regina, SK, Benjamin came to Ontario to study music at the University of Toronto. After attending Osgoode Hall Law School and articling with criminal defense lawyer Shaunna Kelly, he has been fortunate to work at Aboriginal Legal Services, South Etobicoke Community Legal Services, and most recently, Keewaytinok Native Legal Services, located in the remote northern community of Moosonee, on the tip of James Bay.
Benjamin is passionate about social justice, with a particular interest in housing for all, and efforts to address the harmful legacy of colonialism and to bring Canadian society into better relations with Indigenous peoples. In his spare time, Benjamin enjoys his other two passions: music and cooking. You can hear some of his music on Instagram at @ben.hognestad and bandcamp at https://benjaminhognestad.bandcamp.com
